Room Zero launches Compass, bringing AI analysis to asset managers’ AUM, flow & revenue data
Compass combines Room Zero’s governed AUM and flow data with the AI model of your choice. Asset managers can see what happened, find out why, and test what happens next, in one place.
Room Zero, the specialist software provider to the asset management industry, has launched Room Zero Compass. The new capability puts an AI analyst alongside the AUM, flow, revenue and cost of sales data already held in Room Zero.
Traditional dashboards show what happened and leave the user to work out why. General-purpose AI tools can answer almost anything but give no sense of where to start. Compass combines the two. It gives a guided view of the business, and at any point the user can ask why.
Every panel in Compass has two buttons. Explain gives a quick reading of the figures on screen. Go deep sends an AI analyst into the live data model, where it runs its own queries to find what drove a number: which clients, products and teams, and what it meant for revenue. Every query it ran is listed underneath, so each figure can be traced back to the data and checked.
Compass covers the questions asset managers ask every month:
- Flows and call lists: whether net new money is recovering and who is driving it, turned into a ranked list of clients to thank or check in on, ordered by revenue at stake.
- Economics: what new money earns against the money it replaces, and where margin is being lost.
- Concentration and stickiness: how much of the business rests on a few clients, and how long money stays.
- Heatmaps: 26 measures by sales team, investment desk or channel. Any single cell can be investigated in depth.
Compass also looks forward. In the Revenue Simulator, a user describes a scenario in plain English, such as losing a large client, a fee cut or a rising market, and the AI sets the levers. Users then fine-tune sales, redemptions, margins and one-off events, and compare the result against a do-nothing baseline. Any scenario can be turned into a ready-to-present PowerPoint deck, with charts, tables and speaker notes.
For everything else there is Ask Anything: a conversation with the AI, with the firm’s data to hand. Users can ask how the quarter is going, draft a note to a team head, or have a metric explained in plain English.
Richard Warrington, co-founder at Room Zero Solutions:
“Our clients already trust Room Zero for a single, golden source of AUM and flow data. Compass puts that data to work. Every number can be explained, questioned and projected forward, and every answer traces back to the firm’s own data.”
Compass runs on the firm’s live, governed Room Zero data. Firms can use the AI provider of their choice, including Anthropic, OpenAI and others.
